What now for America?

Here I am again writing about a subject I claim to care very little about but if I am honest I must admit it has amused me no end: The Presidential Election.
A few hours ago Obama was declared President Elected. I am happy it was a landslide victory so at least we will not get people whining saying the outcome was fixed and conspiracies alike. I am also happy to see the hope and jubilation in the faces of those who voted for him.
But on the other side of all this jubilation stands the one who lost: McCain. I do feel sorry for him. This was his last chance due to his advanced age. I also believe he has better credentials to be a President than Obama. I am not saying I would have voted for him. Especially after Palin got nominated as vice-president. Oh no! Would not vote for a fundamentalist of any kind and that includes Barack “let’s change the world” Obama.
But it is the fundamentalists I want to try to understand. The USA is jam packed with fundamentalists of one kind or another. I have this picture in my mind of a mass exodus of biblical proportions. Right now there are probably thousands of Americans packing their belongings and dashing off to the prosperous, pro-life, Promised Land of Palin's Alaska. There they will be able to procreate in peace while at all times keeping an eye on Russia.
And how about those fundies who can't afford the move or want to stand their ground? Will they allow a mixed race, mixed faith, alleged communist to lead them into the future or will they just go camp on Ground Zero and wait for the Rapture?
These are questions I cannot answer; only time will tell. What I can tell now is that those staying behind are probably all dashing to the nearest gun store and stockpiling their arsenals before the new gun control laws come into place, and Obama must be trying on new bullet proof vests.
M40 anyone?

"You know... it's interesting.rnrnA lot of the "fundies", per-se are gonna continue to join the ranks of hate groups like the KKK, etc. Mostly nobody's going to complain, at least THAT much. People like that have a tendency to complain a lot, then slowly accept it, or at least re-focus back on their immediate lives and move on.rnrnTrue that gun sales are going up, in addition to assault weapons sales skyrocketing, (the reason being because Obama has made it quite clear that he's intending to re-implement the ban, hopefully permanently.) Being an American and a prior-military one at that, I wholeheartedly agree with the ban on weapons like that. My reasoning being; having undergone rigorous training to handle weapons like that, I KNOW for a fact that the average American doesn't have the same training and won't show the same `muzzle discipline' or `fire discipline' wielding a weapon like that, meaning if they do `shoot to defend', they'll have little knowledge of, or care of, where their field of fire is, resulting in lethal danger for those within it.rnrn"

"Very good point indeed! Ever so out of context and missing the irony of the article but a good point nonetheless."
